Sex Trade Survivors and Women’s Rights Advocates Celebrate the Withdrawal of South Africa’s ‘Prostitution Bill’

This spring, South Africa’s Deputy Minister John Jeffery announced that the government would no longer table their proposed bill to fully decriminalize prostitution due to concerns about the bill’s constitutionality. CATW’s executive director Taina Bien-Aimé reacts to this welcome news, and analyzes the consequences of such a bill passing, and why its withdrawal is a tremendous relief to sex trade survivors and advocates from around the world.
