The
League of Finnish Feminists organized a forum in September 2005 to
promote the National Action Plan Against Trafficking in Human Beings as
Finland prepared for its publication and a proposed law against the
demand criminalizing the buyers of sex. This law was due to come up for a
parliamentary vote in 2006. The forum was titled “Towards an agenda for Action Against Human Trafficking: Preventative Means and Victim Protection.” Janice
Raymond spoke as well as Zanna Jozef from the Estonian NGO, Living for
Tomorrow, Johanna Suurpaa from the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
as well as Marjut Jyrkinen a Finnish researcher.
