Albania, Czech Republic and Croatia

CATW May 1, 2006

CATW conducted two governmental consultations in Albania (November 2006) and Moldova (May 2006).

CATW conducted two governmental consultations in Albania (November 2006) and Moldova (May 2006) advising lawmakers and others about pending legislation on trafficking and prostitution. These consultations were important in amending legislation in the Czech Republic and Croatia, both of whom rejected legalization of prostitution as a solution to trafficking.  Proposed changes to the criminal code in Croatia included removal of penalties for women in prostitution and a new offense of “procurement for sexual services.” Over 300 persons participated in these consultations.
